$150 billion mogul Warren Buffett teams up with Stephen and Ayesha Curry for famous charity lunch

After four years of pause, 95-year-old Berkshire Hathaway chairman Warren Buffet has renewed his charity lunch and collaborated with Ayesha Curry and Stephen Curry to mold it into a “a seat at the table auction”. Buffet’s charity lunch will be combined with a new kind of star power and limelight that the couple stands for.

The inspiration

Buffet’s decision to revive the lunch was affected by the demise of glide’s founder Rev. Cecil Williams to find new patrons in order to sustain the organization. When Stephen remains to be one of the most celebrated NBA stars at the moment and Ayesha has kept her name through acting and entrepreneurship, the couple has been at the center of philanthropic initiatives over the years.

The Partnership

By changing the format of initiative, Buffet has combined financial benefits and glamour together. “Over the years, I’ve seen how the business community and innovative nonprofits can work together to create real change,” Buffet said in a statement.

Essentially, the partnership aims to derive action from influence. Proceeds from the auction will be shared by Glide Foundation in San Francisco and the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, that was founded by Currys to support children through education, food and physical activity in Oakland.

Glide has been a support system for the vulnerable communities for a long time and Curry’s foundation shows their empathy towards struggles of their home community. “We’ve always believed that access can open doors, but what matters most is what you do with it. With this incredible auction, we are excited to turn this moment into real impact for students and families throughout the bay area community”, the Currys have spoken.

The details

The online bidding will commence on May 7 to May 14 on Ebay. The highest bidder, along with up to seven guests, will win a seat at the private lunch with Buffet and the Currys in Omaha on June 24, 2026.

In the past years, the proceeds raised by the auction have exceeded $50 million with a groundbreaking bid of $19 million in 2022. The upcoming auction is expected to be a key event to watch.
