Annapurna Yojana: ₹3,000 transfer begins this week; how beneficiaries can update bank details

The West Bengal government is set to launch the first phase of fund transfers under the Annapurna Yojana this week, bringing relief to thousands of women across the state.

Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries will receive a payment of ₹3,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

According to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, the transfer process is scheduled to begin on June 3. Government officials are expected to visit homes and assist beneficiaries in filling out the application forms for the scheme, ensuring that the benefits reach deserving households.

“There is no need to be worried. Our officials will go door-to-door and help women fill the forms. Do not pay heed to any rumours. We want only genuine beneficiaries to receive the benefits of the scheme,” Adhikari was quoted as saying by PTI.

Many women currently receiving assistance under the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme are likely to be shifted to the new Annapurna Yojana initiative.

As a result, beneficiaries are being advised to verify their banking information before the funds are credited.

Inactive bank accounts, incorrect information, or previous DBT failures could lead to payment delays. Maintaining an active Aadhaar-linked bank account is essential for receiving financial assistance without interruption.

Who is eligible for Annapurna Yojana?

The scheme is open to women aged between 25 and 60. Individuals who hold permanent government positions, receive a government salary or pension, or pay income tax are excluded from receiving this benefit.

Verify Aadhaar-bank account linkage

Beneficiaries should first confirm which bank account is linked to their Aadhaar number for DBT payments before updating. This can be checked through the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) portal.

Users need to access the customer section, select the Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE) service, and then choose the Aadhaar Mapped Status option. After entering the Aadhaar number, captcha code, and OTP received on the registered mobile number, the system will display the bank account currently linked for government benefit transfers.

Steps to update bank details

If the Aadhaar-linked account is incorrect or no longer in use, beneficiaries can update their banking information through the NPCI portal. Here is the step-by-step process to update or link your bank account:

Step 1: Visit the official NPCI website.

Step 2: Click on the Customer section and select the Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE) option.

Step 3: Click on Aadhaar Seeding/Deseeding.

Step 4: Enter your Aadhaar Number, select the Seeding option and choose your new bank name from the list on the website.

Step 5: Select your seeding type. Choose one of the following options based on your requirement:

  • Movement (Same bank with another account): To switch to a different account within the same bank.
  • Movement (from one bank to another bank): To transfer your Aadhaar link from your old bank to a new bank.

Step 6: Enter your new bank account number and confirm it.

Step 7: Check the declaration box, enter the captcha code and click submit.

Step 8: Read the terms and conditions, click Agree and Continue and enter the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Step 9: Click Confirm to complete the process.
