The Tidong project is a run-of-river hydroelectric power plant located in the Tidong Valley in Kinnaur district. It has been commissioned ahead of the earlier guided timeline of October 2026.
Tidong Power has a long-term power purchase agreement with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited for 75 MW of power during the months of May to October, at a tariff of ₹5.57 per kWh. The project is JSW Energy’s fourth hydro asset in Himachal Pradesh and adds to its hydropower portfolio, strengthening its position as a private sector hydropower player in India.

JSW Energy said the project is expected to be earnings-accretive in FY27, supported by its tariff structure and seasonal hydro generation profile. The plant’s location near the Karcham Wangtoo project is expected to enable operational synergies.
With this commissioning, the company’s total installed capacity added in Q1 FY27 (to date) stands at 445 MW (225 MW wind, 70 MW solar and 150 MW hydro), taking total installed capacity to 13,900 MW.

JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.1 GW, comprising of 13.9 GW operational, 13.6 GW under-construction across thermal, hydro and renewable, and has a pipeline of 4.6 GW.

The company also has 29.6 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through
hydro pumped storage projects of 26.4 GWh and a battery energy storage system of 3.2 GWh. The company aims to reach 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030 and achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
Shares of JSW Energy Ltd ended at ₹560.10, up by ₹8.05, or 1.46%, on the BSE.
