Wipro bets big on AI for businesses with new Claude centre in Bengaluru

Wipro Ltd on Tuesday, June 16, said it has launched an Applied AI Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Anthropic’s Claude models at its Bengaluru innovation hub, as the Indian IT services company seeks to deepen enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence, according to an exchange filing.

The centre, established under Wipro’s newly created AI-Native Business & Platforms Unit, will focus on scaling the deployment of Anthropic’s Claude AI models across enterprise workflows and industry-specific applications, the company said.

Wipro said the capabilities will be integrated into its Wipro Intelligence platform stack, spanning delivery, functional and industry solutions, to help clients embed AI into core business processes across sectors.

As part of the initiative, the company is building a global pool of Forward Deployed Engineers trained on Claude models who will work within client environments to accelerate AI integration and deployment.
The Bengaluru-based company said the CoE will also support the development of AI-native platforms and solutions for industries including mortgage services, healthcare, airlines, manufacturing and consumer sectors. In addition, Claude models will be deployed across Wipro’s internal finance, human resources and sales functions as part of its broader AI-led transformation.

A key component of the programme is the certification of 10,000 frontline delivery professionals on the use of Claude models over the next 18 months, aimed at expanding Wipro’s AI implementation capabilities in enterprise environments.

“The launch of the Applied AI Center of Excellence for Claude models marks a fundamental shift in how we deliver and advances our strategy of being consulting-led and AI-powered,” Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Srini Pallia said in the filing.

The move underscores Wipro’s efforts to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing enterprise AI market as global technology services firms race to build industry-specific AI solutions and capabilities.

Shares of Wipro ended marginally higher on Tuesday, June 16, by 0.66% at ₹182.58 on the NSE.
