Nissan teases Tekton SUV ahead of July 9 debut: Calls it ‘Baby Patrol’


Nissan India has confirmed that the Tekton SUV will make its global debut on July 9, 2026, and has released a teaser showcasing new design details. The teaser also describes the upcoming Tekton as the ‘Baby Patrol’, hinting at its strong design links with the brand’s flagship SUV. The Tekton is expected to carry over several Patrol-inspired styling elements, including the grille, headlamps and other exterior details. The upcoming model shares its platform with the new Renault Duster and will be manufactured at Renault’s facility in Tamil Nadu.

Nissan Tekton teased

Design-wise, the upcoming SUV will feature a wide front grille with a red horizontal strip running across it and an illuminated Nissan logo at the centre. The SUV also features a full-width LED DRL signature linked to the headlamp units, which incorporate L-shaped lighting elements. Other exterior highlights include a sculpted bonnet with prominent character lines, a central hood scoop and Tekton badging. At the rear, the SUV will feature a roof-mounted spoiler, a raked windscreen, C-shaped connected tail lamps and a large bumper. Dimensionally, the SUV is expected to be similar in size to the new Renault Duster, which measures 4,345 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width, 1,703 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,657 mm.The Tekton is expected to share its engine options with the new Duster. A 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 100 PS power and 160 nm torque paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Another engine is a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed DCT or a 6-speed manual. There’s also a bigger 1.8-litre strong hybrid petrol engine with 109 hp paired with a 49hp electric motor and a 20hp hybrid starter generator (HSG), paired with a 1.4kWh (280V) battery. Together, this configuration delivers a combined system output of 160hp and 172Nm.Expected features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, 48-colour ambient lighting, keyless entry with push button start/stop, multi-drive modes and more.The new Nissan Tekton will be a key product for Nissan India. It’s expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will compete with models such as the Renault Duster, Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and others.
