Stock Market Holiday: Investors and traders are set for a long weekend as the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will observe a trading holiday on Friday, June 26, 2026, on account of Muharram. Trading in the equity, equity derivatives, and currency segments will remain suspended on both exchanges.
The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also observe a partial trading holiday. Commodity trading will remain suspended during the morning session from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, evening session trading will resume from 5:00 pm and continue until 11:30 pm/11:55 pm.
According to the exchanges, there are no trading holidays scheduled in July and August.
The next full market holiday after Muharram will be on Monday, September 14, for Ganesh Chaturthi. There are no trading holidays in July and August. After Muharram, the next stock market holiday will be on September 14, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Banking operations impacted
Banks across most parts of the country will remain closed on June 26 due to Muharram. However, branches in select cities including Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Kochi, Kohima, Panaji, Shillong, Shimla, and Thiruvananthapuram will continue operations.
Additionally, banks will observe the mandatory fourth Saturday holiday on June 27.
