The same include alleged lapses in patient care, the Delhi government said in an official statement on Thursday.
Fortis Hospital, in a statement, assured complete cooperation in the matter, news agency PTI reported.
“We will review the details once formally shared with us and extend our full cooperation to the authorities. Patient safety and well-being continue to be our foremost priority,” Fortis Hospital said.
As per the Delhi government statement, chief minister Rekha Gupta ordered the inquiry after a complaint during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ alleged that the facility had demanded payment prior to beginning treatment of a youngster who had suffered multiple stab injuries and the delay in providing medical care on time led to his death.
The Central District Magistrate led a team, along with officials from the health department and Delhi civic body, the Delhi Fire Service and other departments to inspect the hospital on Thursday, the statement said.
The team examined CCTV camera footage and records of the emergency department. It showed that the youth had walked into the department by himself, suggesting timely treatment could have saved his life.
The inspection also found alleged violations of building by-laws, deficiencies in the fire safety system, unauthorised constructions, misuse of the basement and other serious lapses in adherence to the standard operating procedures governing medical protocols, the Delhi government said.
The Delhi government added that it has decided to initiate action against the hospital and is putting together a detailed inquire report, in view of the alleged irregularities and lapses in patient care.
