EPFO extends service suspension by a day; restoration from July 2


The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has extended the suspension of its online member and employer services by another day, pushing the restoration of key digital facilities to July 2.

According to a notice issued on the EPFO portal, online services will now remain unavailable until 11:59 pm on July 1, with systems expected to resume operations from 00:00 hrs on July 2.

The outage is part of a planned database consolidation and software upgrade exercise aimed at strengthening EPFO’s claims processing system. The migration process, which began on June 26, is intended to improve service delivery, enhance processing efficiency and provide a faster, more secure user experience for subscribers and employers.

During the maintenance window, users will be unable to access the Member Interface and Employer Interface, effectively halting all online services linked to the portals. This includes online claim submissions, passbook downloads and several UAN-related facilities.
“EPFO is undertaking a planned database consolidation and upgradation of software applications for the Claims Processing System,” the retirement fund body said in its notice, adding that the temporary disruption is necessary to improve the reliability and security of its digital infrastructure.

The organisation clarified that fresh online claims cannot be filed during the shutdown period, while claims submitted before June 26 will be processed only after services are restored.

The disruption also extends to services available through the Umang app. In a separate advisory, EPFO said its facilities on the government-backed platform will remain inaccessible until July 2 due to scheduled maintenance activities.

Several subscriber services on Umang have been impacted, including PF balance checks, online claim filing, claim status tracking, grievance registration, establishment search, scheme certificate applications and Jeevan Pramaan certificate services.

EPFO said the ongoing upgrade is expected to significantly improve the overall experience for members once the migration is completed.

The retirement fund body has also urged subscribers to bear with the temporary inconvenience during the system overhaul. Members seeking assistance can contact the EPFO call centre at 14470.
