“If I was one of the most successful career women ever, I would not invite a man who said that women should focus on being homemakers instead of career women to my wedding either,” wrote an X user for Harrison Butker. It was in the Summer of 2024 that the Kansas City Chiefs placekicker made some shocking controversial comments during a speech at Benedictine College in Kansas. The NFL star addressed female graduates, saying, “Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”Butker said that his wife Isabelle’s life had “truly started” when “she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.” He added that Isabelle had embraced “one of the most important titles of all: homemaker.”BBC News’ Rachel Looker reported then that Butker’s speech also attacked IVF and surrogacy, “degenerate culture values,” “dangerous gender ideologies,” and “the tyranny of diversity, equity, and inclusion.”The Chiefs kicker invited a lot of public backlash for his comments. Even his teammates did not reportedly support him.

Patrick Mahomes does not talk to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift wedding’s uninvited guest Harrison Butker

Patrick Mahomes was asked about Butker’s comments on The Pat McAfee Show in 2024. “Honestly, I don’t talk to Harrison all year long, man. I just let him do his thing,” the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback said. Mahomes called Butker a “good person” despite “not necessarily agreeing” with his comments.Butker was a crucial link in the 2020 Super Bowl win after 50 years. He broke the franchise’s record in 2022 with a 62-yard field goal. But despite all this, was he invited to the heart of the Chiefs’ wedding? No. He probably was not. According to a viral rumor posted by Football Crave on X. However, Travis Kelce had commented on Harrison’s speech back then. Kelce was not judging him by his views; he called him a great teammate.

Travis Kelce cherishes Harrison Butker as a teammate but does not comment on his speech

“I cherish him [Harrison Butker] as a teammate,” Travis said via the New Heights podcast in 2024. “I think Pat [Patrick Mahomes] said it best, where he is every bit of a great person and a great teammate. He’s treated friends and family that I’ve introduced to him with nothing but respect and kindness, and that’s how he treats everyone. When it comes down to his views and what he said at Saint Benedict’s commencement speech, those are his.I can’t say I agree with the majority of it or just about any of it outside of just him loving his family and his kids, and I don’t think that I should judge him by his views, especially his religious views, on how to go about life. That’s just not who I am.”As for whether Harrison was invited to the royal Swift-Kelce wedding? The Mirror US’ Jeremy Goldstein reports that not all Chiefs teammates could make it to Travis and Taylor’s wedding; the 36-year-old tight end sent invitees to almost his entire team. But only one player reportedly did not receive an invite: much-maligned placekicker Harrison Butker.
