US Market | The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed to a record intraday peak on Tuesday as investors continued shifting funds away from artificial intelligence-linked stocks. The blue-chip index gained 83 points, or 0.2%, while the broader S&P 500 slipped 0.2% and the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite declined 0.7%.

Iranian attacks on tankers | A Qatari liquefied natural gas carrier was hit, and a laden Saudi oil tanker suffered damage as they exited the Strait of Hormuz. The LNG carrier Al Rekayyat, owned by Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat), was hit on its port side while sailing through the Strait of Hormuz. Separately, the Saudi-flagged crude oil tanker Wedyan was also reported to have suffered damage off the coast of Oman.
US Fed Minutes Release | The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) will release the detailed minutes of its June 16–17 monetary policy meeting at 11:30 PM IST. The minutes will provide further details on the discussions and views of policymakers during the meeting.
US Wholesale Inventories and Trade Data Release | The US Census Bureau will publish May wholesale inventories and trade data at 7:30 PM IST. The data will provide details on inventory levels and trade activity in the United States for the month of May.
Oil Prices | Oil nudged higher following attacks on shipping in and around the Strait of Hormuz. Brent traded near $73 a barrel. A laden liquefied natural gas carrier, Al Rekayyat, was hit by a projectile near the Omani coast as it exited the waterway, while a Saudi oil tanker also suffered damage.
Cochin Shipyard OFS | The Offer for Sale (OFS) in Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) received an overwhelming response from investors on the first day on Tuesday (July 7), with the issue getting oversubscribed 3.52 times. Following the strong investor response, the government has decided to exercise the entire green shoe option under the OFS. The OFS will open for retail investors and employees on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
