Cheema, who also chairs the Cabinet Sub-Committee on employees’ issues, held meetings with representatives of five education department unions, two Anganwadi unions and an outsourced employees’ union to discuss their pending demands.
According to an official statement, the minister said, ”We are aware of your hardships. The necessary framework to resolve the majority of your legitimate demands is already under the administrative process.” He added that the Bhagwant Mann government is working to expedite the process and deliver positive outcomes for employees at the earliest.
During the meetings, representatives of the Berozgar BEd TET Pass Adhyapak Union, Berozgar PSTET Pass Art and Craft Sangharsh Union, Murh Bahal Kachhe Adhyapak Union, SSA/MDM Non-Teaching Employees Union Punjab, and Unaided Staff of Aided Schools Front submitted memorandums seeking job security and resolution of service-related issues.
The Anganwadi Mulazam Union Punjab (CITU) and Jujharu Anganwadi Worker/Helper Union Punjab demanded an increase in wages for Anganwadi workers and helpers.
Representatives of the Enlistment-Outsource Coordination Committee sought formal inclusion under the proposed 2026 personnel legislation, along with post-retirement benefits and assured minimum wages.
The minister assured all delegations that their demands would be examined on a priority basis and reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining dialogue with employee organisations to address their concerns.
