Actor Dia Mirza has spoken about portraying Kamalpreet Kaur Dhanoa in the upcoming series ‘Operation Safed Sagar’. The actress said the role helped her gain a deeper appreciation for the emotional strength shown by the families of Indian Air Force personnel. She described the experience as both moving and eye-opening. Speaking during the trailer launch of the series, Dia said the story goes beyond the battlefield and also shines a light on the people waiting at home. She explained that the emotional journey of military families became one of the most meaningful aspects of the project.
Dia Mirza highlights the resilience of Air Force wives
Dia said her character represents the emotional support system that keeps families united during uncertain times. According to the actress, Kamalpreet Kaur Dhanoa becomes a source of strength for the women whose husbands are away on important missions. As quoted by Mid Day, speaking about her role, Dia said, “Kamal Maam’s part in this story was one of an anchor, somebody who held the women together, who really connected them as a force while their husbands were on the mission and what it meant to her and the women to experience what it was.” She added that the role helped her understand the emotional responsibilities carried by military spouses.
The reality of life in the Air Force
The actress also reflected on how difficult it can be for families to prepare for life in the armed forces. She said that while people may hear stories about military life, experiencing it is entirely different. Dia explained, “Even the women that marry into the Air Force don’t know what to expect. They may hear stories but you can never really fully prepare for reality when it occurs.”
A lesson that stayed with Dia Mirza
While discussing the impact the role had on her personally, Dia said one particular thought remained with her throughout the filming process. She described it as one of the biggest lessons she took away from the series. She added, “I think one of the big takeaways for me as a wife and as a woman, and as a mother was this line that ‘every single day when their husbands step out of the home they bid them goodbye with a smile on their face even if they’ve had the biggest fight the night before’ and it’s a powerful reality to be rooted in and a very very terrifying one and like Amrita so eloquently explained that it’s impossible for us to ever truly know but we can try and I think we did.”
