NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) Friday launched a dedicated website inviting protesters to upload photographs and videos of police personnel who allegedly assaulted demonstrators during and after the July 20 Sansad Chalo march, saying it would identify the officers and pursue legal action against them.Launching the portal at Jantar Mantar, CJP representatives appealed to protesters from across the country to submit visual evidence of the alleged assault. “We will go through every photograph and video, verify them, identify the police personnel involved and file complaints against them. We will demand registration of FIRs against such officers. If FIRs are not registered, we will approach the courts. Lawyers from across the country have come forward to help us and we will obtain court orders to ensure cases are registered,” CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said.He said the organisation will prepare a list of officers allegedly involved in the clampdown and “ensure they are punished till the end”.Besides reiterating its demand for action against the cops allegedly involved, CJP has also sought a public apology from the Delhi police commissioner, Rapid Action Force head and the Centre.“We request that all these demands be accepted at the earliest, failing which the movement will only grow bigger and spread across the country,” CJP said in a letter submitted to Centre Friday.It also sought an assurance that protesters would not be targeted in future, and said in-principal approval for this demand was given by Centre’s representatives who met the CJP spokespersons Friday.
