The rally lifted Apple’s market capitalisation to about $4.94 trillion, putting it ahead of Nvidia, whose market value stood at around $4.83 trillion.
The move marks another shift at the top of the global market-cap rankings, with Apple once again edging past Nvidia to become the world’s most valuable listed company.
Earlier on July 17, Apple had reclaimed its position as the world’s most valuable company on Friday, overtaking Nvidia after its market capitalisation rose to nearly $4.9 trillion, compared with the chipmaker’s $4.86 trillion.
Notably, Apple is scheduled to report its quarterly earnings after the market closes on Thursday.
Thursday’s earnings call will be Tim Cook’s last as Apple’s chief executive before he steps down on Sept. 1 to become executive chairman. The leadership transition will see John Ternus, the company’s longtime hardware engineering chief, take over as CEO.
