IPO-bound National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) reported a healthy financial performance for the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27, with growth in revenue and operating profit driven by higher transaction charges across segments.
The exchange’s consolidated profit after tax (PAT) rose 7 per cent YoY to Rs 3,120 crore in the June quarter, against Rs 2,924 crore posted in the corresponding quarter last year.
Revenue from operations rose 13 per cent YoY to Rs 4,560 crore in Q1 FY27, up from Rs 4,032 crore in Q1 FY26.
The consolidated total income came in at Rs 5,252 crore for the quarter ended June 2026, compared with Rs 4,798 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal, marking a 9 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase.
On the profitability front, operating EBITDA increased 15 per cent YoY to Rs 3,594 crore, compared with Rs 3,130 crore in the year-ago period. The operating EBITDA margin improved to 79 per cent in Q1 FY27, from 78 per cent in the year-ago period.
Total expenditure for the quarter stood at Rs 1,129 crore, up from Rs 1,053 crore in Q1 FY26.
Earnings per share (EPS) increased to Rs 12.61, compared with Rs 11.81 a year earlier.
Transaction charge revenue increased to Rs 3,623 crore from Rs 3,154 crore a year ago. Revenue from data connectivity charges stood at Rs 258 crore, while operating investment income was Rs 234 crore and revenue from data feed and terminal services came in at Rs 150 crore.
NSE said its contribution to the exchequer, including collections and payments, amounted to Rs 20,579 crore during the quarter. This included STT/CTT of Rs 18,313 crore, stamp duty of Rs 980 crore, GST of Rs 657 crore, income tax of Rs 373 crore and SEBI fees of Rs 256 crore.
In terms of segment-wise contribution to STT/CTT collections, the equity delivery segment accounted for 37 per cent, the cash market (intraday) contributed 6 per cent, while the equity derivatives segment contributed 57 per cent.
