Three defence stocks that should be on your radar today

Three defence stocks are expected to remain in focus on Friday, July 31, after a strong quarterly earnings performance by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and fresh order wins announced by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) and Astra Microwave Products.

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders reported a steady start to FY27, with the June quarter remaining seasonally weak for the company.

Revenue increased 12% year-on-year, while EBITDA surged 48%, driven by a sharp improvement in operating profitability. EBITDA margin expanded by 369 basis points to 15%, despite total production costs rising to 65% of sales from 49% a year earlier.

Lower provisions also aided profitability, falling sharply to ₹30 crore from ₹540 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. As a result, net profit rose 22% year-on-year.

The company’s order book stood at ₹18,218 crore at the end of the quarter, compared with ₹20,535 crore at the end of FY26. Shipbuilding accounts for 64% of the order book, while submarines and heavy engineering contribute the remaining 36%.

Earlier, the company had indicated that its order book could exceed ₹1 lakh crore once the Project-75I submarine order is awarded.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE)

GRSE said it has secured an order worth ₹1,032.07 crore from ONGC for the construction of four Platform Supply Vessels.

The project is scheduled to be executed over 48 months. The company’s order book stood at ₹15,324 crore at the end of FY26.

Astra Microwave Products

Astra Microwave Products has received an order worth ₹2,205.23 crore from HAL for the procurement of components for the Uttam Radar programme.

The contract will be executed over a five-year period. The company’s order book stood at ₹2,610 crore at the end of FY26.
