Andrew Tate’s attorney has warned US President Donald Trump that failing to support the jailed influencer could cost Republicans support among young male voters, as Andrew and his brother Tristan Tate continue to fight extradition to the United Kingdom over multiple criminal charges.In an interview with Vanity Fair, the brothers’ lawyer, Joseph McBride, claimed Andrew Tate played a role in Trump’s 2024 election victory and argued that abandoning him could have political consequences.“Andrew Tate was a material participant in ensuring President Trump’s victory,” McBride said.He added that if Trump refused to back Tate, younger supporters aligned with the “manosphere” could drift away from the Republican Party in future elections.McBride later wrote on Instagram that Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “will be the next President without the manosphere and Andrew Tate.”
White House rules out intervention
The Trump administration has publicly distanced itself from the case. When asked whether Trump would assist the Tate brothers, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt replied, “no.”Secretary of State Marco Rubio also indicated there was no role for the administration in the ongoing extradition proceedings.“There’s no role for us to play at this moment, or maybe ever in that regard,” Rubio told reporters.Despite those comments, McBride suggested Trump could still change course, saying the president often changes his mind and would ultimately make his own decision.
Brothers remain jailed in Miami
Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 38, have been in custody in Miami since July after being arrested by US Marshals on a warrant linked to extradition proceedings initiated by British authorities.The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service has filed 59 criminal charges against the brothers, including allegations of rape, human trafficking for sexual exploitation, assault, possession of indecent images of a child and offences related to extreme pornography. The alleged offences span between 2010 and 2017.The Tate brothers dismissed all allegations and are contesting their extradition to the UK.
Claims of links to Trump family
Andrew Tate has repeatedly claimed he shares close ties with the Trump family. Following the 2024 assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, Tate said he had spoken with Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, after the incident and looked forward to meeting the president once he was free.Previous reports by The New York Times said Barron Trump had spoken with Andrew Tate over Zoom through mutual acquaintances, although the Trump family has denied reports suggesting a close relationship.According to Vanity Fair, Andrew and Tristan Tate also attended a private summer gathering hosted by Trump’s special envoy Paolo Zampolli and later met Texas Congressman Wesley Hunt during a visit to Washington.Trump has previously denied knowledge of any lobbying efforts related to the brothers’ legal situation, saying, “I know nothing about that.” The extradition case remains ongoing.
