EPFO e-Office application to be unavailable for 3.5 hours today; here’s why

EPFO’s upgraded member portal goes live: Here’s what has changed for users

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) will carry out a scheduled maintenance exercise on Wednesday, August 5, during which its e-Office application will remain unavailable for around three-and-a-half hours.

The maintenance is scheduled between 6 pm and 9:30 pm and is part of a planned system upgrade, according to an EPFO statement issued on August 3.

The retirement fund body said the exercise is aimed at improving the platform’s performance and efficiency.

While the disruption is limited to the e-Office application, EPFO said members and employers may experience temporary delays in accessing some online services during the maintenance window. It has advised users to plan their activities accordingly and avoid making repeated login attempts or submitting multiple requests, as these could increase system load while the upgrade is underway.

As part of the exercise, EPFO will upgrade multiple components of its e-Office platform, including the eFile, Portal, MIS and MDM modules.

The maintenance comes after EPFO’s recent technology overhaul, which involved database consolidation and software migration to strengthen its digital infrastructure. Following that exercise, the organisation restored its member and employer services in phases and said some requests could continue to take longer as additional verification and validation checks are carried out.

EPFO also said several member-facing services on the UMANG app continue to be available. These include UAN allotment, UAN activation, face authentication for activated UANs, FAQs, and account details through SMS and missed call services.
