Stock Market Closing Today: Check top gainers, losers and key market trends on August 6

Stock Market Closing Today, August 6: Stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty edged higher on Thursday amid lower crude oil prices and buying in Reliance Industries.

Benchmark indices have been facing divergence since Monday after stock exchanges introduced a new auction mechanism for shares having futures and options contracts.

The Closing Auction Session (CAS) in the equity cash segment became operational on Monday, introducing a new auction-based mechanism for determining the closing prices of eligible stocks in a move aimed at making the price discovery process more transparent and robust.

Stock Market Closing Today On August 6

On Thursday, August 6, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex gained 373.76 points or 0.48 per cent to close at 78,954.76. The NSE Nifty went up by 11.35 points or 0.05 per cent to close at 24,636.

The Nifty Bank index, which tracks the movement top 12 listed banks of the country, closed 323.70 points or 0.56 per cent up at 58,063.65.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 943.42 crore on Wednesday, according to exchange data.

On Wednesday, the Sensex rose by 152.05 points, or 0.19 per cent, to end at 78,581. The Nifty edged up 9.75 points, or 0.04 per cent, to end at 24,624.65.
