Blue Star concall highlights: What the management told analysts

Blue Star management wanted to raise prices by 13% at the start of April to offset the rising input costs. So far, it has only managed a 5% price increase, management revealed in a conference call with analysts a day after the latest earnings report.

Despite this, the Mumbai-based company (one of the top three room AC makers) lost 50 basis points in market share. A delayed and shorter summer season curbed sales and pricing power.

While the management has its hopes pinned to the upcoming festive season, it doesn’t expect the margin squeeze to ease anytime soon.

Blue Star’s financial health found support from rising demand for cooling solutions from data centres mushrooming across the country. The company has projected that business from data centres will contribute 20% of sales by March 2029.

More than 1.5 million shares (three times the last 10-day average) changed hands on Friday, taking the cumulative wealth erosion to nearly ₹1,000 crore on the fourth straight day of decline.
