On Wednesday, August 12, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex lost 187.9 points, or 0.24 per cent, to close at 77,966.35. The NSE Nifty fell 35.75 points, or 0.15 per cent, to close at 24,435.95. The Nifty Bank index, which tracks the movement of the top 12 listed banks in the country, closed 439.60 points, or 0.77 per cent, higher at 57,885.85.
