MSCI India Rejig: Global index provider MSCI has added four stocks – Laurus Labs, Lenskart Solutions, Adani Energy Solutions and Groww parent Billionbrains Garage Ventures to the MSCI India Index as part of its August 2026 review.
Astral Ltd., Balkrishna Industries Ltd. and SBI Cards and Payment Services Ltd. will be excluded from the MSCI India index.
The changes will be implemented after the close of trading on August 31, 2026, and take effect on September 1, Reuters reported.
India’s weightage in the global standard index will also rise to 11.9 per cent from 11.8 per cent,
according to Nuvama Alternative and Quantitative Research as cited by Reuters.
Inclusion to trigger significant buying?
The inclusion is expected to trigger significant buying by exchange-traded funds and other passive investors that replicate MSCI benchmarks, Reuters reported.
The review also recalibrated weights among existing index members. Eternal is projected to attract the largest incremental passive inflow, at around USD 674 million, following an increase in its weight, the Reuters report said.
