RAIPUR: A 34-year-old businessman died after falling from the bonnet of a moving car during an altercation involving his girlfriend and her friend near AIIMS Raipur.The deceased has been identified as Parampreet Singh, a resident of Udaya Society in Tatibandh. Police said he suffered severe head injuries after falling on the road and was taken to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.The incident took place in the Amanaka police station area.According to police, Parampreet spotted his girlfriend with her friend, Bharat Manganani, near AIIMS. An argument followed between them.Police said Parampreet and the woman had known each other for around three to four years and their families had also discussed their marriage.During the dispute, the woman attempted to leave with Bharat in his car. Parampreet tried to stop them and rammed his vehicle into Bharat’s car. When the car stopped, Parampreet climbed onto its bonnet and asked the woman to get out.

Bharat drove ahead despite Parampreet being on the bonnet. The car is believed to have travelled for around 200 metres before Parampreet fell onto the road.Passersby alerted police, following which a team reached the spot and shifted the injured man to hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries.Police have registered a case of unnatural death and started an investigation. CCTV footage from cameras installed around the spot is being examined to reconstruct the sequence of events and statements of witnesses are being recorded.Police said Bharat is being traced and further legal action will be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report, CCTV footage and other evidence collected during the investigation.
