The move adds a distributor-led option to the asset manager’s existing investment channels. Its mutual fund schemes have so far been available through its existing distribution and digital channels.
Under Regular Plans, investors typically invest through mutual fund distributors, with the distributor receiving a commission that is reflected in the scheme’s expense ratio. Direct Plans, in contrast, are available to investors who invest without an intermediary and generally have a lower expense ratio.
JioBlackRock said the new plans are available through its empanelled mutual fund distributors, subject to applicable regulatory requirements. Distributors can complete their empanelment through the asset manager’s online portal.
JioBlackRock Asset Management is a 50:50 joint venture between Jio Financial Services and BlackRock. The company launched its mutual fund business in India earlier this year.
The introduction of Regular Plans comes as the asset manager expands its distribution network and allows investors who prefer to invest through distributors to access eligible JioBlackRock schemes.
The company said the move would also help it expand its engagement with mutual fund distributors and offer its schemes through multiple channels.
Sid Swaminathan, managing director and CEO of JioBlackRock Asset Management, said the introduction of Regular Plans would give investors more choice in how they invest and help the company work more closely with distributors.
Rajiv Chhabria, chief business officer at JioBlackRock Asset Management, said distributors continue to play a role in taking mutual fund investments to a wider investor base as participation in the industry increases.
JioBlackRock has also launched products under the Specialised Investment Fund (SIF) framework, including the Prism Hybrid Long-Short Fund.
The Regular Plans are available from August 17 across eligible schemes through empanelled mutual fund distributors.
