Princess Eugenie has revealed the name of her newborn daughter, paying a touching tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II. Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, welcomed their third child two weeks ago in Portugal, and the couple have now announced that their baby girl is named Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank.Sharing the news on Instagram, Eugenie, who is 12th in line to the British throne, explained that the name was chosen to honour three people the couple love and admire, including the late Queen Elizabeth II.“Named after three people we love and admire past and present, including her Great-Grandmother who we hold close in our hearts,” Eugenie wrote.She added that their daughter’s name also has a special connection to both countries close to their family.“Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home,” she said.

Eugenie also gave fans a glimpse into life with the newest member of the family, saying she and Brooksbank have enjoyed a particularly intimate period since welcoming their daughter.“We’ve had the most special, cosy and love-filled time,” she wrote.Adelaide is the couple’s first daughter. She joins their two sons, August and Ernest, with Eugenie revealing that the family took some time before settling on a name.“Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers,” she added.

The arrival of Adelaide marks another milestone for the British royal family. She will not hold an HRH title and will be 15th in line to the throne, with her great-uncle, the Duke of Edinburgh, moving to 16th.She is also the 15th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the third to be born since the monarch’s death in 2022.Adelaide is the fifth grandchild of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, following the birth of Princess Beatrice’s daughter, Athena Mapelli Mozzi, in January last year.
