In October 2025, New York Giants running back and QB Jaxson Dart’s best friend Cam Skattebo suffered a gruesome, season-ending right ankle injury. The injury included an open tibia fracture and right ankle dislocation.According to DraftSharks, he carries a “very high” injury risk in the 2026 season. The injury chance is 72 percent, and his chance of injury per game is 7.2 percent. He is projected to miss 0.90 games.His durability score is 0.77, with the maximum being 5. So, this just looks scary. But he feels very confident, despite recording just four carries for 19 yards in the 2026 preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings.“When I went out there Saturday, I had no feeling or any recollection of the injury in my brain,” Skattebo said. “I was ready to go play football, and adrenaline gets going, so everything kind of goes away, and you’re just ready to touch the ball and go play.”“I think coach [John Harbaugh] loves that I run right over the top of people. Physicality is the No. 1 thing, and it gets the [offensive] line going even more.So obviously, as I came back from injury, I’m learning how to take fewer hits and try to maneuver better around people instead of through them, and realizing that I could have gotten four more yards if I would have just taken a step to the left.I think those are the things that I’m just going to continue to add to my game and add to my bag of tools that I can pull from to make sure that I stay healthy and I stay successful.”Cam Skattebo is in his second season.
