NEW DELHI: A 31-year-old M.Sc. Physics student at IIT Delhi died after allegedly jumping from the sixth floor of a building on the institute’s campus on Saturday morning, police said.At around 8.33 am on August 22, a PCR call about a student having jumped from a building at the IIT Delhi campus was received at Kishangarh police station. Police staff immediately reached the spot and shifted the injured student to the IIT Delhi campus hospital, where he was declared brought dead.The crime team and FSL team were called to the spot for inspection and collection of evidence.During the enquiry, police established that the deceased was a 31-year-old student of the M.Sc. Physics Department at IIT Delhi.According to the enquiry, the student entered the IIT Delhi campus through the main gate at around 8 am. He then went to the Lecture Hall Complex, took a lift to the sixth floor and jumped from the front side of the building towards the Lecture Hall Complex.Police said no apparent injury marks other than those attributable to the fall had been found during the enquiry so far. No suicide note has been recovered.A mobile phone was also recovered from the deceased’s pocket and will be examined as per due procedure.Police are obtaining the student’s counselling records and other relevant information from the institute. The facts are being verified and further legal action is being taken as per law.
