Annapurna Bhandar: Why your payment may be delayed
There could be several reasons for the delay. These include an inactive Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) facility, an Aadhaar-unlinked bank account, discrepancies in Aadhaar, bank account and application details, pending administrative verification, or incorrect bank account selection where a beneficiary has multiple accounts.
Incorrect or incomplete documents submitted during the application process can also delay payment. Beneficiaries who fall under an ineligible category, such as government employees, pensioners or income tax payees, may not receive the instalment. Administrative or technical issues during the phased release of payments could also temporarily delay the credit.
Check your Annapurna Bhandar application status
Beneficiaries can check their application status on the West Bengal government portal. An ‘Approved’ status means the application has been successful and payment will follow, while ‘Rejected’ means the applicant has been found ineligible and can appeal to the BDO office if required.
‘Pending at the BDO Office’ means verification is incomplete, while ‘Bank Account Invalid’ indicates that the bank account details do not match Aadhaar records. In such cases, beneficiaries can submit photocopies of their passbook to the BDO office. ‘Payment Pending’ means the funds have not yet been released.
What beneficiaries should do
Beneficiaries should check their status online through socialregistry.wb.gov.in by selecting their district, entering their registered mobile number and verifying the OTP. They can also use socialsecurity.wb.gov.in and select ‘Track Application’ or ‘Check Status’.
If the status shows ‘Payment Processing’ or ‘Approved’, beneficiaries are in the list and the ₹3,000 will be credited to their Aadhaar-linked bank account. If the status remains rejected after rechecking the details, the issue needs to be resolved before payment can be released.
Beneficiaries should also ensure that their Aadhaar-linked bank account is active and that their bank details are updated.
If all details are correct but the payment has still not arrived, beneficiaries should visit their local administrative office to lodge a complaint and check the exact verification status. The portal also provides an option to file a grievance.
The August instalment was expected to be released in phases, with different updates pointing to disbursement during August. Beneficiaries should therefore check their individual application status rather than rely solely on a general payment timeline.
