‘The Gentlemen’ has officially been renewed for a third season, Netflix confirmed on Monday. The announcement about Guy Ritchie’s crime drama starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, comes just as the trailer of Season 2 of the hit series dropped online, ahead of its September 3 premiere. The returning cast also includes Joely Richardson as Eddie’s mother Lady Sabrina, Daniel Ings as his disinherited older brother Freddy, Jasmine Blackborow as his sister Charly and Jones as Geoff, the keeper of the estate and its secrets.Season 3 will consist of eight episodes, Variety reports, and the series is currently in pre-production and is expected to begin filming imminently, although scripts have yet to be finalised and casting is still being worked out. Despite recent speculation about Meghan Markle joining the series, there is currently no confirmation of her involvement.Ritchie, who created, wrote and directed the series, will return to direct Season 3 and co-write the new season with Matthew Read. In a statemen to the poral, Ritchie said, “The ambition of ‘The Gentlemen’ has accelerated, the world has expanded and the consequences carry weight. A third season felt inevitable, and I’m looking forward to pushing the boundaries of it further.”The series, inspired by Ritchie’s 2019 feature film of the same name, follows Eddie, an aristocrat who unexpectedly inherits his family’s sprawling country estate and discovers that it is at the centre of a lucrative cannabis empire. The Season 3 announcement comes as Netflix continues to expand its slate of returning UK originals, with shows including ‘Black Mirror’, ‘Legends’ and ‘Being Gordon Ramsay’ also receiving new season orders.
