Stocks to Buy Today, August 28: The Indian stock market is expected to start on a higher note on Friday (August 28), as indicated by GIFT Nifty.

As of 8:15 am IST, GIFT Nifty traded 0.2 per cent, or 48.5 points, higher at 24,267.50. GIFT Nifty is a pre-market indicator for the Nifty 50 and often signals whether the benchmark index is likely to open higher, lower or flat based on global market cues. (GIFT Nifty Today)

Ahead of the trading session, Vatsal Bhuva, Research Analyst at LKP Securities, has recommended a few stocks that could potentially deliver gains during Friday’s session.

Vatsal Bhuva has recommended a buy on Jindal SAW, with a target price of Rs 344 and a stop-loss at Rs 290.

VA Tech Wabag Share Price Target

Vatsal Bhuva has recommended a buy on VA Tech Wabag, with a target price of Rs 2,350 and a stop-loss at Rs 2,020.

Asian Markets Today

Asian markets traded mixed on Friday (August 28), with most major indices posting gains.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 0.8 per cent to 66,680. South Korea’s KOSPI traded about 1 per cent lower at 6,845.31, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng ticked higher at 25,599. Meanwhile, China’s Shanghai Composite was up about 0.3 per cent at 3,967.68.

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty traded lower on Thursday (August 27), as selling in blue-chip HDFC Bank and persistent geopolitical uncertainty weighed on market sentiment.

On Thursday, August 27, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex fell 539.35 points, or 0.70 per cent, to close at 76,933.59. The NSE Nifty fell 116.90 points, or 0.48 per cent, to close at 24,090.85.

The Nifty Bank index, which tracks the movement of the top 12 listed banks in the country, closed 273.80 points, or 0.47 per cent, lower at 57,509.95.
