The Nepali army has released dramatic footage showing rescuers pulling survivors from a mud-filled tunnel at the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project in Rasuwa, as devastating flash floods continue to wreak havoc across Nepal.The video shows survivors crawling through thick, dark brown mud before being pulled to safety by rescuers. Army spokesperson Brig Gen Raja Ram Basnet said teams were struggling to locate the tunnel’s entry and exit points as they were covered in mud.“It is complicated to find the entry and exit points of the tunnel because everything has been covered by mud,” Basnet said. “Our first priority is rescuing the stranded people.”Hundreds have people died and several remain missing as authorities struggle to locate the whereabouts given the difficult terrain of the region.More than 3,200 people have been airlifted from affected areas, while rescue operations continue amid warnings of further flooding from a barrier lake on the Tibet side.Police spokesperson Abi Narayan Kafle said rescue efforts were continuing despite the fresh threat. “It hasn’t stopped,” he said.
