Avantel gets ₹118 crore DRDO order for ground communication hub


Communication equipment firm Avantel has received a ₹117.88 crore contract from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), under the Ministry of Defence, for the development, installation and commissioning of a ground segment hub for voice and data communication, the company said on Saturday (August 29).

Contract to be executed by February 2029

The project involves the development of a ground segment hub and is a domestic contract awarded by the DRDO. Avantel is required to complete the work by February 2029, according to the filing. The contract carries a warranty period of 36 months.

The latest contract follows an order received by Avantel earlier this year from Zetwerk Manufacturing Businesses. The company had received a ₹459.9 crore rate contract for the supply and maintenance of satellite communication equipment.

The domestic contract is scheduled to be executed over three years. It covers the manufacturing and supply of satellite communication systems, along with a one-year comprehensive onsite warranty and a five-year annual maintenance contract (AMC).The Zetwerk agreement includes both equipment supply and maintenance support, according to the company.
