According to a PTI report, Sukhu said Class-IV employees who retired between January 1, 2016, and January 31, 2022, will receive an additional ₹20,000 over and above their salary arrears.
The chief minister also said the state government will remove the condition linked to basic pay for Class-I, Class-II and Class-III pensioners.
Following the removal of the condition, eligible pensioners will be paid 35% of their pending arrears, Sukhu said. With this payment, a total of 57% of employees’ arrears will be cleared, according to the PTI report.
Arrears, gratuity and leave encashment
Sukhu said full arrears, leave encashment and gratuity had already been paid to pensioners aged above 67 years.
The chief minister also said the state government would provide Dearness Allowance (DA) to employees in due course. However, he did not specify a timeline for the DA payment.
The announcements are relevant for Himachal Pradesh government employees and pensioners awaiting payments linked to salary and pension revisions.
Separately, Sukhu distributed financial assistance of ₹3,500 each to 800 fishermen under the Mukhyamantri Machhuaara Samman Nidhi Yojana. The amount was transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Sukhu made the announcements while addressing people in Dehra in Kangra district on August 30, according to PTI.
