The company acquired the stake held by Wildflower Private Trust on September 1, Tata Consumer Products said in a stock-exchange filing.
Following the transaction, Tata Consumer Products holds 27,95,533 shares of Capital Foods, representing 80% of its paid-up equity share capital.
Part of plan to eventually own 100%
The latest purchase is part of Tata Consumer Products’ previously announced plan to acquire as much as 100% of Capital Foods.
Tata Consumer Products announced the acquisition in January 2024 and subsequently bought a 75% stake in the company.
At the time, it said the remaining 25% would be acquired within three years of the initial transaction.
Tuesday’s purchase takes Tata Consumer Products one step closer to full ownership, with its stake increasing from 75% to 80%.Capital Foods is the company behind food brands including Ching’s Secret and Smith & Jones.
Tata Consumer Products shares closed 0.67% lower at ₹1,030.50 on September 1.
