UPSC CMS result 2026: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is expected to announce the Combined Medical Services Examination (CMS) Written Result 2026 in mid-September 2026. Candidates who appeared for the examination on August 2, 2026, will be able to check the qualifying merit list through the official UPSC website once the result is declared.The written result is expected to be released in PDF format, containing the roll numbers of candidates shortlisted for the next stage. Candidates will need their examination roll number to verify their qualifying status.
How to check the UPSC CMS result
After the commission publishes the result, candidates can follow these steps:Step 1: Visit the official UPSC website.Step 2: Open the “Written Results” section or check the “What’s New” area.Step 3: Select “Combined Medical Services Examination, 2026”.Step 4: Open the result PDF containing the roll numbers of qualified candidates.Step 5: Use Ctrl + F to search for the roll number.Step 6: Save and print the PDF for future reference.What happens after the written resultCandidates shortlisted through the written examination will have to complete the Detailed Application Form (DAF) online. According to the expected schedule, shortlisted candidates will need to log in to the UPSC portal within 15 days of result publication and submit the required document details.Those who qualify will subsequently be called for the Personality Test. Category-I has 864 vacancies, primarily for Medical Officers in the Central Health Service (CHS) cadre. Category-II has 494 posts, including 450 in Indian Railways, 14 in the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and 30 in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).The written examination carries 500 marks, divided equally between two computer-based papers of 250 marks each. A negative marking of one-third of the marks assigned to a question applies for every incorrect multiple-choice answer.The Personality Test carries 100 marks and will form part of the final selection process.
