The bank said it purchased 29,015,693 equity shares, representing approximately 2% of ICICI Prudential Life’s equity share capital as of June 30, 2026, through the stock exchange mechanism.
The purchases were completed in multiple tranches between July 22 and September 2, 2026, as part of the bank’s earlier plans to increase its shareholding in the life insurance subsidiary.
The latest acquisition follows disclosures made by ICICI Bank on February 28 and June 24, in which the bank had announced plans to acquire up to an additional 2% stake in ICICI Prudential Life.
Shares of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance closed at ₹501.20 on the NSE on Wednesday, up 1.16%, or ₹5.75.
ICICI Bank reports $17.88 billion FCNR(B) mobilisation
Separately, ICICI Bank said its gross mobilisation under the Reserve Bank of India’s swap facility for FCNR(B) deposits stood at around $17.88 billion, or approximately ₹1.70 lakh crore, as of August 31, 2026.
Of this, loans provided by the bank’s international branches and subsidiaries against such deposits stood at around $9 billion, equivalent to ₹85,600 crore.
The bank also said standby letters of credit worth around $3.63 billion, or ₹34,600 crore, had been issued to other banks in respect of loans against such deposits.
In addition, ICICI Bank said it had issued around $3.55 billion of US dollar-denominated bonds during July and August 2026.
