The Waterfield Global Opportunity Fund will invest across international equities, commodities and global themes, while the Waterfield Global Fixed Income Fund will focus on global fixed-income assets. Both funds will follow an active, research-driven investment approach.
The funds are designed to provide diversified exposure across global markets rather than focus on a single country or investment theme. The equity-oriented fund will provide exposure to multiple asset classes, including equities and commodities, while the fixed-income fund will invest in global debt markets.
The two funds have been set up in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) and will operate in foreign currency. The structure includes independent custody and third-party administration, according to the company.
Waterfield said the funds are intended for clients looking to build a strategic allocation to international assets alongside their domestic portfolios. The firm has recommended a minimum 10% allocation to global assets for family-office portfolios, with the allocation to be rebalanced periodically.
India accounts for around 3% of global equity market capitalisation, according to Waterfield, which said an entirely domestic portfolio can leave investors concentrated in a single market and currency. It also pointed to sectors such as semiconductors, AI infrastructure, aerospace and global pharmaceuticals, where investment opportunities are more widely available in overseas markets.
Indian residents can also invest overseas directly under the Reserve Bank of India’s Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS), which permits individuals to remit up to $250,000 per financial year, subject to applicable regulations.
Waterfield said its GIFT City fund structure provides an alternative route through a pooled investment vehicle rather than individual overseas brokerage accounts.
Soumya Rajan, founder and CEO of Waterfield Advisors, said the funds were launched in response to clients seeking access to global markets while retaining a structured investment and governance framework.
Riddhiman Jain, managing director and head of investment strategy and solutions at Waterfield Advisors, said the funds are intended to provide Indian investors with access to global diversification through a structured investment vehicle.
