AlphaGrep raises ₹200 crore through non-convertible debentures

Quantitative investment management firm AlphaGrep has raised ₹200 crore through the issuance of secured, redeemable non-convertible debentures (NCDs), according to a company statement on September 8.

The NCDs carry a coupon rate of 10.5% per annum and have a tenure of one year. The securities will be listed on the debt segment of the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

The fundraise comes after AlphaGrep’s credit rating was upgraded to CRISIL A+. The company said the proceeds will be used to strengthen its artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) infrastructure and expand its retail-facing businesses.

AlphaGrep has recently launched three schemes in its quantitative mutual fund business and plans to introduce more schemes and other retail-focused fintech businesses, the company said.

The group has also expanded beyond proprietary trading into asset management across India, GIFT City, the UK and China. Its combined assets under management (AUM) currently exceed $2 billion, according to the company.

AlphaGrep Securities is the sponsor of AlphaGrep Mutual Fund, while its subsidiary operates as the asset management company (AMC) managing the fund’s schemes.
