And Samsung, which has been playing in this space for years, appears to have welcomed its newest rival with a rather pointed joke.As Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, at its “Surprise and Shine” event on September 9, Samsung Mobile US was already busy having some fun on social media. Its verdict? “Let us know when you’re done reheating our leftovers 😉”.Ouch.The South Korean tech giant also posted a series of other digs, including “So far, so same” and used the hashtag #ItsTimeToSwitch. So, what exactly did Apple launch?
The iPhone Duo is Apple’s first-ever foldable iPhone. Open it up and you get a 7.6-inch inner display, while the closed phone has a 5.4-inch outer screen. Apple says the Duo is its thinnest iPhone when opened and has been designed for viewing content, gaming and multitasking. The phone comes with a titanium frame, a precision hinge and Apple’s new A20 Pro chip. It later took aim at the similarities between Apple’s foldable and existing Android devices.Basically, Samsung’s social media team showed up to Apple’s launch with popcorn.
