DCB Bank in talks with PE, strategic investors to raise up to ₹1,000 crore

DCB Bank is in talks with private equity and strategic investors to raise around ₹1,000 crore, with the lender expecting the deal to close within the next three months, Managing Director and CEO Praveen Kutty said at GFF 2026, confirming a CNBC-TV18 newsbreak.

The fundraise comes as the private sector lender looks to strengthen its capital base and support its growth plans.

DCB Bank had been exploring PE funding

CNBC-TV18 had reported on August 26 that DCB Bank was in discussions with private equity investors for a potential capital infusion, according to sources familiar with the matter.

At the time, sources told CNBC-TV18 that ChrysCapital was likely among the PE firms in talks with the bank. DCB Bank’s shares extended gains of more than 5% soon after the report.

The development followed the bank’s board approval to raise up to ₹2,000 crore, including up to ₹1,500 crore through an equity issuance. People aware of the discussions had said talks were at a preliminary stage, with the size, structure and timing of a potential investment still being worked out.

DCB Bank had responded to the CNBC-TV18 story at the time, saying it evaluates various strategic and other opportunities from time to time in the ordinary course of its business.

ICICI Prudential AMC gets RBI nod

Separately, DCB Bank disclosed on September 9 that the Reserve Bank of India had approved ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company to acquire up to a 9.95% stake in the bank.

The approval was received on September 8, 2026, and disclosed by DCB Bank on September 9. The stake acquisition must be completed within one year from the date of approval, failing which the approval will lapse.

The acquirer will also have to comply with the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act and applicable RBI Directions, 2025.

With its discussions with PE and strategic investors now more clearly defined, DCB Bank is targeting a capital infusion of around ₹1,000 crore and expects to close the transaction within the next three months.
