The collaboration will assess engine compatibility, performance and installation requirements for India’s next-generation HALE UAV programme. Pratt & Whitney Canada, an RTX business, will evaluate the engine’s compatibility, performance and installation requirements, while Bharat Forge will lead the engine-airframe integration.
Bharat Forge’s scope will include installation design and systems interfaces, drawing on its engineering, manufacturing and aerospace systems capabilities. The collaboration supports India’s indigenous unmanned aerial systems efforts under the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

HALE UAVs provide long-endurance surveillance, intelligence and reconnaissance across land and maritime domains.
This month only, Bharat Forge Ltd said its wholly owned subsidiary Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd (KSSL) has partnered with FN Herstal to build small arms and counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) capabilities in India.
Under the MoU, the two companies will evaluate setting up a dedicated production centre in India and a Strategic Alliance/Joint Venture covering a range of FN Herstal defence solutions for the Indian market. The proposed cooperation will span small arms, integrated weapon systems and C-UAS solutions.
The partnership brings together Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd’s six decades of Indian advanced engineering and technology-led manufacturing at scale with FN Herstal’s more than 135 years of global leadership in small arms and integrated weapon systems.

The initiative is aligned with the Government of India’s Make in India policy and is aimed at building capability in India through local manufacturing, technology cooperation and value creation. The companies said the cooperation will support greater domestic participation in defence procurement programmes and strengthen India’s defence industrial base.
Shares of Bharat Forge Ltd ended at ₹1,874.00, down by ₹66.00, or 3.40%, on the BSE.
