‘If you’ve never fought, you’re probably not husband and wife’

‘If you’ve never fought, you’re probably not husband and wife’

This was perhaps the most practical part of her advice.

Sudha Murty explained that when one person is angry, the other should try to stay calm instead of immediately reacting. She used her own marriage as an example.

When Narayana Murthy is angry, she said she lets him speak and doesn’t get into an argument with him at that moment. And when she is angry, he does the same.

It’s a simple idea, but one that’s probably easier said than done.

When both people are upset and trying to prove their point at the same time, a small disagreement can quickly become much bigger. Sometimes, waiting until both people have cooled down is better than trying to solve everything in the middle of an argument.
