According to provisional exchange data, FIIs bought equities worth ₹8,761.71 crore and sold shares worth ₹11,970.47 crore during the session.
Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) remained net buyers, purchasing equities worth ₹3,617.75 crore. DIIs bought shares worth ₹14,105.01 crore and sold ₹10,487.26 crore.
FII selling increased from ₹2,032.61 crore on Wednesday, while DII buying moderated from ₹3,908.23 crore.
Nifty gains, Sensex slips
Indian equity markets ended mixed on Thursday. The Nifty rose 53 points to 23,271, marking its second consecutive session of gains, while the Sensex slipped 22 points to 74,315.
The Nifty Bank index underperformed, falling 237 points to 56,056. The Nifty Midcap index, meanwhile, gained 558 points to 61,432.
Thirty-five Nifty stocks ended higher, with insurance companies among the biggest gainers.
Tata Group stocks rose after N Chandrasekaran’s reappointment as Tata Sons chairman was announced, with Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles among the top gainers.
Most auto stocks also advanced ahead of the festive sales season, with Maruti Suzuki and TVS Motor rising around 2% each.
Upstream oil companies declined as crude prices weakened, with ONGC emerging as the biggest Nifty loser, falling 2%.
PB Fintech fell 4%, giving up about half of Wednesday’s gains. Federal Bank declined 2%, while Jana Small Finance Bank gained 2% amid expectations of a corporate announcement.
Semiconductor-related stocks saw strong buying, with Kaynes Technology, Hitachi Energy India and CG Power gaining more than 3% each.
The Indian rupee closed at ₹95.93 against the US dollar, compared with ₹95.96 on Wednesday.
