New listings steal the spotlight with 6% of NSE turnover as Rentomojo leads trading activity


Newly listed stocks saw heavy trading activity on the bourses on Thursday (September 14), with Rentomojo, Kanohar Electricals and Glass Wall Systems (India) together accounting for nearly 6% of the National Stock Exchnage’s (NSE) total cash-market turnover of ₹98,222 crore.

Bengaluru-based Rentomojo emerged as the most actively traded stock by turnover, with shares worth ₹2,349 crore changing hands on the NSE, followed by Kanohar Electricals at ₹1,916 crore and Glass Wall Systems (India) at ₹1,546 crore.

Shares of Rentomojo, an online rental and subscription platform, began trading at ₹489.90 apiece on Thursday and climbed to a high of ₹547 during the session. About 4.6 crore shares changed hands, generating a turnover of ₹2,349 crore. The traded value was equivalent to about 42% of the company’s market capitalisation of ₹5,562 crore at Thursday’s close.

Rentomojo shares ended the session at ₹534.25, up 32.2% from the IPO price of ₹404. The company raised ₹1,256 crore through its initial public offering.

Kanohar Electricals, which debuted on the NSE on Wednesday, was the second-most traded stock among the three, with shares worth ₹1,916 crore changing hands on Thursday. About 2.3 crore shares were traded on the exchange, against a market capitalisation of around ₹6,500 crore.

The stock extended its gains after a 19% surge on its debut day, rising nearly 9% on Thursday to close at ₹817 on the NSE. The closing price was about 29% above its IPO price of ₹632. The company raised ₹1,056 crore through the IPO.

Glass Wall Systems (India) was the third-most traded among the recent listings, with a turnover of ₹1,546 crore on the NSE. About 6.4 crore shares changed hands during the session, pushing the stock to its upper circuit. The company had a market capitalisation of around ₹2,267 crore at Thursday’s close, making the day’s traded value equivalent to more than 68% of its market capitalisation.

Together, the three newly listed companies generated a turnover of ₹5,812 crore on Thursday, accounting for nearly 6% of the NSE’s total cash-market turnover of ₹98,222 crore.

The heavy trading activity comes amid strong interest in recent IPO listings, with all three stocks seeing substantial trading volumes in their early sessions on the exchange.
