RailTel Corp shares gain up to 5% after winning order worth ₹63 crore from Prasar Bharti


Shares of RailTel Corporation of India gained on Thursday, September 17, after the company said it won an order worth ₹63.15 crore.

The company said it has secured the letter of intent from Prasar Bharti (Broadcasting Corporation of India) director general, Doordarshan.

The order pertains to RailTel providing features / services on the existing WAVES OTT platform, and the contract has to be executed by February 11, 2029.

Last month, the company won three orders. On August 20, it won an order worth ₹164 crore from Western Coalfields for the establishment of MPLS VPN network. On August 18, it won a work order worth ₹166.8 crore from the Employees Provident Fund Organisation. It won the third order worth ₹63 crore on August 13 from the Deendayal Port Authority.

The company reported its first quarter results in July. Its net profit in the June quarter was unchanged at ₹66 crore. Its revenue increased 20.1% to ₹893.2 crore from ₹743.8 crore in the first quarter last fiscal.

The company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) increased 13.6% to ₹132 crore from ₹116 crore last fiscal.

However, its margin contracted to 14.7% from 15.6% in the year-ago period.The stock then went on to pare some of those gains to now trade 2.3% higher at ₹258.1. The stock has corrected 30% so far this year.
