The game was slated to start at 7:30pm ET. But it took around 20-25 more minutes for the game to kick off at the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi, at 7:50 pm EDT due to confusion with broadcasting caused by the delay in the game between Alabama and FSU.
The Alabama vs. FSU game, which was streaming on ABC, was moved to ESPN2 so that the LSU vs Ole Miss game can air on ABC and ESPN app. At the time of the kickoff, the game was in the third quarter and had a long-time left.
ESPN provided the updated schedule for the upcoming college football games on Saturday.
Alabama vs. Florida State Seminoles Delays Affected TV Programming
The Alabama vs. Florida State Seminoles game was delayed twice as lightning and thunderstorms made the stadium unsafe for the game to go on. The first delay came right at kickoff, as the game started one and a half hours after its scheduled time.
The two teams were able to play on for most of the first two quarters before the weather struck again. With just two minutes and 36 seconds left on the clock, the game was again paused due to severe lightning. At the time, Florida was leading 21-3. The game again restarted at 7:02pm ET, after a nearly 40-minute delay.
The halftime was skipped and the players were kept on a moderate schedule as the broadcast schedule overlapped with the next games. The game ended with Alabama winning 50-36.
