The approval was granted on August 28, 2026, according to the fund house. The SIF platform will operate under the brand name ‘Fokkus’.
Abakkus said it plans to introduce investment strategies across equity, debt and hybrid categories through Fokkus, subject to applicable regulatory requirements, filings and approvals. The fund house has not yet disclosed the specific strategies, asset allocation or launch timelines.
SEBI introduced the SIF framework with effect from April 1, 2025. The framework allows mutual fund houses to offer differentiated investment strategies within a regulated structure, with specific eligibility and investment requirements.
Abakkus said details of Fokkus’ investment objectives, asset allocation and risk factors will be announced after completion of the required regulatory filings and approvals.
“We are pleased to enter the SIF space, marking an exciting new chapter for Abakkus,” Sunil Singhania, chairman and managing director, Abakkus, said. He added that the fund house intends to use the flexibility available under the SIF framework to offer differentiated strategies.
Vaibhav Chugh, chief executive officer, Abakkus Mutual Fund, said the fund house would focus on investment processes, risk management and investor education as it enters the relatively new category.Abakkus Mutual Fund received its SEBI registration in August 2025. Abakkus Investment Managers Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Abakkus Asset Manager Ltd, is the asset management company.
The SIF framework permits mutual fund houses to launch investment strategies that sit between conventional mutual fund offerings and products such as PMS and AIFs, subject to SEBI’s prescribed framework.
