ESIC rules to apply across these Madhya Pradesh districts from October 1: Key details

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) contribution framework will come into effect across the entire areas of 24 partially implemented districts in Madhya Pradesh, along with Niwari, from October 1, 2026, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

The notification, dated September 22, 2026, appoints October 1 as the date from which contributions from employers and employees of establishments in the specified areas will become payable under Section 29 of the Code on Social Security, 2020.

The 24 partially implemented districts covered by the notification are Agar Malwa, Alirajpur, Anuppur, Ashoknagar, Balaghat, Barwani, Betul, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Datia, Harda, Jhabua, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Panna, Rajgarh, Seoni, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Tikamgarh, Umaria, Vidisha and Dindori.

Niwari, which was classified as a non-implemented district, has also been included in the notification. This takes the total number of districts covered by the latest order to 25.

The notification has been issued under the third proviso to the First Schedule of the Code on Social Security, 2020. It also states that employees of establishments covered by the order will receive benefits under Chapter IV relating to the ESIC from the appointed date.

The move expands the geographical coverage of the ESIC contribution and benefit framework to the notified areas of Madhya Pradesh from October 1.
