New MD & CEO appointment expected soon

HDFC Bank New CEO Live Updates: HDFC Bank is expected to announce its next Managing Director and CEO soon, bringing the wait for a successor to Sashidhar Jagdishan closer to an end. The bank’s board has already submitted two names to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), in order of preference, seeking approval for a three-year term.

CNBC-TV18 was the first to report that the two names submitted to the RBI are Kaizad Bharucha, HDFC Bank’s Deputy Managing Director, and Anup Bagchi, currently Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance. The bank has not officially disclosed the names submitted to the regulator.

The appointment comes after Jagdishan decided not to seek re-appointment as HDFC Bank’s Managing Director and CEO and amid a broader reshuffle of the lender’s senior leadership and board structure.

HDFC Bank has also proposed the appointment of Jimmy Tata as a whole-time director, designated as executive director, for three years, subject to RBI approval. The bank has proposed the reappointment of V Srinivasa Rangan as a whole-time director for one year from November 23, 2026.
