NEW DELHI: Buoyed by the Election Commission‘s statement, BJP Saturday said it has exposed Congress and its allies as their attack on the poll body was nothing but a continuation of their tactic of shifting blame for their shrinking popular support in elections and demanded their apology.BJP president Nitin Nabin said, “Opposition has once again been exposed for misleading the public on SIR. EC has made it clear that every decision relating to the SIR was taken unanimously by the full commission. Yet, Congress chose to build its allegations around a manufactured lie and attack our constitutional bodies.”

Nabin noted that opposition has no complaint when it wins but raises questions when it loses.He said, “The hypocrisy is evident. When the same electoral process delivers victories to Congress and its allies, including in states like Keralam and Tamil Nadu, its credibility is readily accepted. But when the people’s mandate goes against them elsewhere, they question the very institutions that conduct those elections. Democracy cannot be respected selectively.”Those who have repeatedly undermined India’s democratic framework for political survival owe the nation an honest reckoning and a public apology, Nabin said.BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad said the poll panel’s statement has made it clear that Rahul had levelled unfounded and shameful allegations. “He and Congress are blaming the Election Commission for their political failures by levelling baseless allegations against a constitutional institution. Today, their web of lies stands exposed yet again,” Prasad said.He claimed that the EC statement has made it clear that the Indian Express story was “factually incorrect”.
